TRAFFIC TICKENT/INFRACTION AMNESTY PROGRAM: HOW DOES IT WORK AND DO I QUALIFY?

Posted |

Governor Brown signed a one-time amnesty program into law in June 2015. The new amnesty program which runs from October 1, 2015 through March 31, 2017 allows for individuals to clear unpaid fines without repercussions for more fines. If you qualify, this program is a great opportunity to cure a default of court ordered fines and may even provide relief for those who have had their driving privileges suspended.

The following individuals may be eligible for the program:

  • Individuals with fines that were originally due to be paid on or before January 1, 2013
  • Individuals who were delinquent but are currently making payments may be eligible to have the “failure to appear or pay” fee removed from their record

The amnesty program does NOT apply to parking tickets, reckless driving, and DUI offenses.

If you are interested in participating in the program, please visit the San Diego County Superior Court’s website for more information and to download and complete the Amnesty participation form.
